Cwm Rhaiadr
Two camping fields and stone barns nestled in the Cwm Rhaiadr forest in Carmarthenshire, on the Western edge of the Brecon Beacons, near the town of Llandovery.
This site, with its stream, woodland and pine forest, provides two separate camping areas. The larger of the two fields can accommodate two separate troops with a further one able to camp on the smaller field, amounting to approximately 60 campers in total.
Additionally there are a series of barns. One houses a Rayburn stove and the two adjoining barns can sleep 24 people in bunk beds, and there is a partitioned area for chemical toilets and a table for washbowls. One chemical toilet is provided; groups will need to provide their own if additional ones are required.
There is a cold water supply to the barn and 4 standpipes outside for campers' use. There is a plentiful supply of wood and ground fires are allowed as long as the turf is carefully replaced afterwards.
Pioneering poles are available on-site and local attractions include a swimming pool at Llandovery. Dan-yr-Ogof is the largest underground show cave complex in Europe and is only 15 miles away and there are also three castles locally, one with underground passages. The nearby mountains and moorland are ideal for walking.
