Camelot
Camelot is a 25 ft Drascombe Gig, the vessel is approximately 10 years old and is in top class condition. It was owned by Goodrich Sea Scouts but is now in the care of the Welsh Scout Council Water Activities team.
The vessel, based at the Bala Sailing Club North Wales, is used as a floating classroom during our Sailing courses, 2007 has been our first year of operation and the vessel has proved to be invaluable, allowing 8/10 more sailing places per course.
A team now exists to operate and maintain the vessel, annual maintenance is taking place at its winter lay up location, and we have a designated Boson, Skipper and Engineer all keeping a watchful eye on safety aspects applying their tender loving care.
So far, we have a team of six permit holders who skipper the vessel, each one a dedicated member of the water team; we are of course always looking for suitably qualified personnel to join this team.
Camelot, by arrangement with our booking secretary, and using one of our permit holders, can be made available at Bala for day sailing sessions for members of the Scout & Guide Associations, to learn more about this, contact Ron.
Obviously the vessel has its annual running costs, so support by agreed donations would be expected, once again discussions to this end, contact Ron.
The operation above will be reviewed annually to ensure costs are covered, the Water Team operate a policy where each of our events cover its costs.
