Assessor accreditation

Following recent changes in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme expedition assessors at all levels of the award (including Bronze & Silver) now have to be accredited following attendance at a one-day training course.

ScoutsWales ran two successful accreditation courses last year and plan to run a further course this year. The date and venue have not been set.

Assessor accreditation courses 2009

ScoutsWales has organised 2 opportunities to attend an Assessor Accreditation Course for those wishing to assess DofE Award expeditions.

Dates:

Cost: £5.00 (to cover registration fee for the DofE Award)

To become a DofE Assessor (at any level – Bronze, Silver or Gold) you need to have attended an Introduction to the Award course (ITTA) or Have been involved in running a DofE Award group for at least 3 years.

You also need to have the appropriate expedition knowledge and experience for whichever level of the DofE Award you wish to assess.

Following the one day course you will have to complete at least one Supported Assessment supervised by an experienced accredited assessor.

NOTE:
A pre-requiste to undertaking the assessor accreditation course is attendance at an Introduction to the Award Course or accreditation of prior learning for those who have been regularly involved with the running of the award for at least the previous 3 years. An Introduction to the Award Course will be run at the same location the previous evening to the accreditiation course, 7pm to 10pm will those who require this prior training please notify Mike Breakwell at dofe@scoutwales.org.uk
