What and where is Cornel?

Cornel is a large camp site site on the shores of Lake Crafnant in North Wales. It comprises a fully equipped campers block and 25 acres of camp ground plus a converted farmhouse, which will sleep 24 in four bunkrooms. There is also a purpose built modern kitchen, showers, drying room and a comfortable lounge, making it the ideal base for groups wishing to spend time in a safe and beautiful environment yet within walking distance of the Carneddau peaks.

Cornel is owned and operated by the Welsh Scout Council and the house and Annex are available for hire to groups and organisations of young people and to industry, schools, D of E award organisers and Universities. Scouts, D of E award groups and other youth organisations also frequently use Cornel for camping during their expeditions.

Service Team

A specialist Explorer Scout Unit, Scout Network members and others form a service team. The Team meet at Cornel usually twice a year in the half-term holidays.

The Team is open to Explorer Scouts from across the UK and is ideal for those wishing to do the service element of the Duke of Edinburgh's of Chief Scout's Awards. It is also very appropriate for the residential part of the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.
